Why Can't We Compromise

Why must we choose one way or the other?
Why can’t we compromise?
What if someone is torn between choices?
What if that person can’t decide?

Why must we choose one way or the other?
Why can’t we compromise?
Should (s)he not decide at all?
But what if (s)he wants to make a difference?

Your Choice

Why must we choose one way or the other?
Why can’t we compromise?
Why must it be just “circle” or just “rectangle,”
If one equally agrees with both?
What if one is for the arch of the circle,
But also the straight path of the rectangle?

Why must we choose one way or the other?
Why can’t we compromise?
Why can’t there,
just for once,
be an oval?

The Dual Citizenship Dilemma

Three words, my friends: I. Am. PSYCHED.
I found out last night from my friend Mistress Elsha that the long-awaited ficlets resurrection, ficly, is coming "soon." What "soon" means, I'm not sure; regardless, we've been waiting for this since The End.

-bows head in a moment of silence-

But, since The End, I've found a bit of a home in Protagonize. Granted, it took a while to get used to "it all," but I've bumped into a great deal of talent, read some awesome stories, and have made a few more friends. I feel a bit attached to this "temporary" home, but the thing we've been waiting for is coming.

protagonize!

Can I manage a dual citizenship? I mean, I want to do so; I want to get back to the short-short story that I used to love, to the vignettes that are my favorites. But at the same time, I like the freedom a longer segment gives me, and the handful of projects I've started such as The Smart Ones. Will I be able to keep an even balance between the two places, be loyal to the two?

Or will it end in disaster?

(I doubt it'll get that bad, but gotta plan for the worst... ^^)
(One must always plan for an EPIC FAILURE)

And Now, For Something Completely Different (Shameless Plug)

Hey all you people!

I hope nobody minds a shameless self-plug... and even if you do, I'm going to plug anyway, and there's not much you can do about that.

Right! Well! I've been posting my writings now and again on Protagonize, and I have posted a challenge.

My first really successful challenge on Protag was the Diabolically Villainous Challenge. It always blows my mind how evil some people can think, really. Both on Protag and on Ficlets, I believe this was my most successful challenge.

But now, it's time for "something completely different."

Yes indeed, it's a Monty Python Challenge! Simply put, entrants must write a short piece/sketch that could very well be a Python sketch, complete with nonsense, silliness, absurdity, and/or British awesomeness. Or any combination thereof.

The last time I did this challenge was on ficlets, and I was told it was a good idea, but nobody could think of anything. I ended up having to award a winner by default (the entry can be found here, while my admission to winner-by-default can be found here). Regardless of past results, I'm trying the challenge once again on new turf.

So far, nothing. But, as I've notified some people who've expressed interest before, that'll probably change.

I hope.

Ficleting Address

Four score & 12 weeks ago, Kevin L. brought forth into this Internet a new website concieved in creativity & dedicated to the proposition that collaboration will spike creativity.

Now we are confronted by a crisis, testing whether the idea of this website, or any website so concieved & so dedicated, can continue to endure. We meet in this part of cyberspace in the midst of this crisis. We’ve come to pay our respects to this site, to recognise those who here poured out their souls that this website or the idea of this website might live. It is altogether fitting & proper that we should do this.

But, in a greater sense, we can’t dedicate, we can’t consecrate, we can’t hallow, this site. The brilliant writers, newer and die-hards, who’ve struggled here, all have consecrated it, far above our weak power to add or detract. The virtual world probably won’t remember what we say here, but it can never forget what we did here. It’s for us, rather, to be dedicated in continuing the effort we’ve so nobly advanced.

It is rather for us to be here, dedicated to the great task ahead of us, that from these great writers, we here greatly swear that these pieces of writing shall not have been typed in vain.

That this website, under the heavens, shall have a new beginning for us, and that a writing website of the writers, by the writers, for the writers, “...shall not perish from the earth.
